ZURÜCK IN WIEN

BACK IN VIENNA

Wina is a Vienna-based monthly magazine focused on Jewish city life, culture, politics, and art. I was recently interviewed by Wina as a “New Austrian.” I am so pleased to be in this article along with Giuliana Schlitzner, and Gary Hirschkron.

Back in Vienna

Since 2020, people whose ancestors were persecuted by the National Socialists have been able to apply for Austrian citizenship. This was made possible by an amendment to the Citizenship Act. The vast majority of them remain in the country where their families found a new home after expulsion and flight. However, some decide to actually move to Austria. WINA Magazine met three of these "old new Austrians" who now live in Vienna.
